Insulating crawl spaces has changed with the introduction of spray foam. Rather than insulating the floor of the living area above the crawl space with fiberglass, it is more effective to insulate the crawl space walls with spray foam. Vapor barrier plastic is installed on the floor of the crawl space to control moisture entering the space and is sealed to the wall when applying the spray foam insulation. This process creates a dry, warm, conditioned space below the living space keeping the floors warm and the moisture sealed out.
